Who we are

Foundation for Lebanon is a non-profit organisation, sheltered at Institut de France, aiming to mobilize the entire community of Lebanese people and friends across the world to provide efficient, trustworthy and impactful giving solutions to assist Lebanon and its people in the long term.

Foundation for Lebanon is a secular, apolitical organisation working across the entire country. Foundation for Lebanon is a single, unified platform for finding, verifying and supporting charities and institutions across Lebanon.

Whether you choose who to support, or ask us to choose for you, your donations are tax deductible, fully traceable and sent to carefully vetted causes that use your donations efficiently.

Foundation for Lebanon came to life at the onset of the Lebanese revolution that started in October 2019. It came as a response to the deterioration of the economic situation in Lebanon.

Many people have lost their jobs or have seen their salaries halved; students are no longer able to pay for their education; schools are threatened with closure; and more and more families have dropped below the poverty line.

TODAY, MORE THAN EVER

Lebanon needs donations through a trustworthy platform that bypasses the difficulties of the current banking system and provides direct financial support to NGOs, Institutions and Individuals on the ground who are in critical need.

Foundation for Lebanon is an initiative by Ruwwad Al Tanmeya, a regional private sector led non-profit community development organization that works with disenfranchised communities through education, youth volunteerism and grassroots organizing.

Its main partner is LIFE, a worldwide membership organisation, non-political and non-religious, for Lebanese professionals in the diaspora that was founded in 2009. Initially open to Finance professionals, in 2020 LIFE expanded to include the fields of Consultancy, Law and Technology.

It is sheltered at Institut de France, the oldest non-profit organisation in France with more than 200 foundations to whom it gives tax deductibility of donations in France and access to their exceptional premises in Paris for events and conferences. It acts as an umbrella structure providing a framework for philanthropic projects and gives a unique opportunity to create instantly a global organisation with credibility and influence.

Steering Committee

As per the Institut de France requirements, Foundation for Lebanon has a steering committee that is responsible for setting the strategic direction as well as establishing the ground for a foundation with good governance and processes.
